Volumetric expansion refers to the increase in volume of a material or substance as a result of changes in temperature, pressure, or other environmental conditions.

When caused by changes in temperature the term "thermal expansion" is used.   These values are vital to consider in engineering and construction, as such expansions can cause inefficiency, damages or even hazardous situations.
