How to specify the hose length when ordering

On this page you will find information on how to determine the right length of hose for your different applications. Choosing the right hose length is essential to ensure the optimal performance and safety of your hydraulic system.  You'll find useful information and tips on how to measure hose lengths correctly, and how to factor in bending, twisting, expansion or contraction that all may affect the length of your hose. You also learn about the different types of hoses and their uses, which can help you select the right type of hose for your specific needs. Whether you're a seasoned professional in the hydraulics industry or new to the field, this page provides help in choosing the right hose length.

How to measure your hose

At your local Hydroscand store we help you tailor the optimal combination of hose and fittings. Here is how to measure an existing hose if you cannot take it to us.

IR-couplings

Length between the surfaces

UF-couplings

Length between the surfaces

IR- and UF-couplings

 Length between the surfaces

Rak rörstuds och UF-koppling

 Length between the surfaces

90° och 45° vinkelkopplingar

Length between angle center lines

90° och 45° IR-kopplingar

Length between angle center lines

90° SAE flänskopplingar

Length between angle center lines

Raka 45° SAE flänskopplingar

Length between angle center lines and flange sealing surface

Tolerance in mounted hoses

Hose length(mm)Tolerance
0-300+/- 3 mm
300-1000+/- 6 mm
1000-+/- 1% of hose length
Angles of hose coupling

Alignment

Hold the hose so that you can look along the hose and the coupling farthest away from you points straight up (0°). Then measure the angle between the vertical coupling and the one closest to you by turning it clockwise to the desired position. The ratio between the couplings can then be expressed between 0° to 360°. Unless otherwise specified, tolerance of +/- 3°for hose length is up to 610 mm and +/- 5 °for hose length over 610 mm. If the angle is not stated when ordering, the hoses will be supplied with the couplings in 0° alignment. Tolerances are given in accordance with SAE J517 2003-07.
